Event Information

Mark Coulton MP, Member for Parkes, invites you to join him for a dinner with special Guest: Senator the Hon Bridget McKenzie

A bit about Bridget...

Bridget was born in rural Victoria, Alexandra. She was raised to be proud of regional Australia, immersed in its traditional rural influences of small business, sport and agriculture.

She completed a double degree in applied science and teaching. She laterconducted research in physical activity with young women in rural settings. From 2009–2010, Bridget lectured for the Faculty of Education, Monash University.

Her experiences as a secondary school teacher and university lecturer have fuelled her passion for education and Australia’s young people. She is committed to improving opportunities for young Australians. An agent for change, she is committed to increasing the profile of sport in Australia, promoting women’s sport, and particularly women and girls empowerment through sport.

She believes that rural Australians should have access to 21st century communications to run their businesses, complete their studies and connect with the community.

As Minister for Rural Health, she focuses on ensuring the health workforce of the regions is equitable with the rest of the country.

Having lived in rural and urban Victoria, and overseas, Bridget is firm in her belief that strong regional economies and secure regional communities are critical to the future prosperity of Australia.

Bridget was elected and re-elected to the Senate of Victoria in 2010 and 2016. She was elected Deputy Leader of The Nationals and appointed Minister for Rural Health, Minister for Sport and Minister for Regional Communication in December 2017.

As Senator for Victoria, Bridget has chaired a number of committees, including the Senate of Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade, as well as Joint Senate Foreign Affairs, the Defence and Trade committee, the Australian Commission for Law Enforcement Integrity committee and Senate Education and Employment Legislation.

As the Deputy Leader of The National Party, Bridget is committed to ensuring that all Australians, regardless of where they live, have access to opportunities that will benefit them and their local communities.
