Event Information

LOOBY - A documentary on the acclaimed painter reveals the ruthless politics of the Australian art world.

Thursday 11 March | 6.00 PM

To mark 100 years of the archibald, Looby tours Australia 2020-21.

Archibald Prize winner Keith Looby won major prizes at home and abroad.  Today his name and works are rarely seen.

Perhaps a habit of drawing colonialism, painting non-conformist and speaking up made Looby persona non grata?  With sumptous cinematography, candid interviews and a strikinng original score, LOOBY uncovers the life and work of an artist we need to remember.

A free screening brought to you by Loud Hailer and Mama Dojo, and proudly supported by the Dubbo Regional Council.

Image credit: Max Gillies by Keith Looby.  Winner Archibad Prize 1984.
