Emergency Animal Disease and Zoonotic and Disease seminar for veterinarians and para‑veterinary staff in clinical practice

NSW Department of Primary Industries (DPI), in conjunction with Local Land Services and the Mid North Coast branch of the Australian Veterinary Association (AVA), is presenting a seminar for veterinarians in clinical practice, including small, mixed or large animals.

Veterinarians will be entitled to 6 structured CPE points.

There is no charge for veterinarians / para-veterinary staff in clinical practice or veterinary science students.

Non-clinical vets are required to cover the cost of catering ($50 per person) and must contact Jenna Fraser on the below details to register.

Veterinarians may be asked to diagnose or advise on conditions with significant potential economic, social or human health implications. This seminar brings together speakers from state and commonwealth governments, academia and NGOs to enable practitioners to be better informed in these areas. The Department of Agriculture and Water Resources has provided funding for the seminar.

Agenda items may include:

  • Submitting samples to the laboratory
  • Hendra virus investigation
  • Antimicrobial resistance
  • Prion diseases and the TSE program
  • Poultry emergency animal diseases
  • Q-fever
  • Australian Bat Lyssavirus and wildlife investigations
  • Zoonoses from the human health perspective

A finalised agenda will be circulated closer to the event.

Please complete registration by Sunday 24th March 2019.
