Event Information

After years of dedicated restoration work by Capertee Valley Landcare, Local Council, LLS, North East Wiradjuri co and the local community, the newly planted trees are flourishing—creating much-needed habitat for birds, insects, and mammals. But no woodland is complete without its understory! Now, it’s time to plant 2,000 shrubs and grasses to build a thriving ecosystem from the ground up.

Would you like to be a Shrub Superhero?

Join us for one or both days in the breathtaking Capertee Valley, surrounded by stunning sandstone escarpments. It’s the perfect weekend to connect with nature, recharge, and make a real impact.

What’s Happening?

Saturday 9AM - 3PM: We'll prepare the site, plan the planting design, and set out plants and guards.
Sunday 9AM - 4PM: Welcome to Country by Uncle Peter Swain
Time to dig in and get those shrubs in the ground!

Where: Canobla Avenue, Glen Davis NSW, Australia

The Reserve is located within Glen Davis village.
You will find the entrance to the Reserve on the other side of Glen Davis Boutique Hotel on Canoble Avenue.
Look for the Landcare signs to guide you.

What’s Provided?

  • A rewarding weekend outdoors
  • A delicious morning tea and lunch for our hardworking volunteers
  • Great company and a chance to meet like-minded nature lovers

What to Bring:

  • Tools for planting (if you have them)
  • Gloves
  • Camp chair
  • Plenty of water
  • Weather-ready gear (rain jacket, hat, sturdy shoes)

Why This Matters

The Glen Davis Reserve is a critical habitat for the Regent Honeyeater, one of Australia’s most endangered birds. With fewer than 400 remaining in the wild, restoring the woodland understory is essential for providing the nectar, shelter, and nesting sites this species desperately needs. Your efforts will directly support the survival of this incredible bird and many other native species.

Camping Options

Want to make a weekend of it? There are great camping options nearby:
Glen Davis Campground – Basic amenities & close to the reserve. More info
Coorangooba Campground – A scenic choice, just a 10-minute drive from the planting site. More info

Come Prepared

Glen Davis is a remote location. The nearest fuel station is the BP in Capertee, approximately 30 kilometers south of Glen Davis.

The closest supermarket is in Rylstone, about 50 kilometers away.

Please come prepared with extra food and supplies for the day.

The well-known "From the Paddock Cafe" is approximately a 10-minute drive from Glen Davis town center for a local lunch & coffee option.

Come along, lend a hand, and be a part of something truly special. We can’t wait to meet you!

Terms & Conditions

Photos for documentation and social media will be taken over the weekend. If you do not wish to have your photos taken, please let one of the Capertee Valley Team know.

We’ll do our best to accommodate dietary requirements, but this may not always be possible due to the remote location and limited catering options. To be safe, we recommend bringing some backup supplies.
