Moree Arts Community Theatre proudly presents 'The Sound of Music.' One of the most beloved musicals of all time! In Austria, 1938, an exuberant young governess brings music and joy back to a broken family, only to face danger and intrigue as the Nazis gain power.
The final collaboration between Rodgers & Hammerstein was destined to become the world's most beloved musical. MACT's production of this family favourite features a trove of cherished songs, including "Climb Ev'ry Mountain," sung by local talent Amanda Mitchell playing Mother Abbess, along with "My Favorite Things," and "Do Re Mi," led by Talitha Mitchell who makes her musical debut with MACT as our leading lady, Maria. "Sixteen Going on Seventeen" and the title number, The Sound of Music will be sung by our up and coming talented children, who are sure to win your hearts.
The inspirational story, based on the memoir of Maria Augusta Trapp, follows an ebullient postulant who serves as governess to the seven children of the imperious Captain von Trapp, played by David Powell, bringing music and joy to the household. But as the forces of Nazism take hold of Austria, Maria and the entire von Trapp family must make a moral decision.
