This education evening is Nurse focused, however, other Clinicians including GPs, Registrars Pharmacists, Medical Students, Aboriginal Health Workers and Practitioners and Allied Health Professionals are also welcome to attend.   

This session will provide clarity on the importance of good assessment and identification of the needs of the wound and will also explore dressing selection and how to select the right dressing to meet the needs of the person’s wound. 

  The program includes:

  • prevalence and costs of chronic wounds in Australia
  • overview of wound healing
  • assessment of wounds and wound documentation
  • chronic wound management
  • identifying wound needs
  • understanding dressings (matching the right dressing to the wound needs)
  • dressing selection

The proposed learning outcomes are as follows:

  • Discuss wound healing including factors that impact on skin repair
  • Recognise the importance of wound assessment and documentation
  • Outline acute and chronic wound management
  • Select appropriate wound dressings to optimise healing

This event is FREE and catering (light supper/canapes upon arrival including soft drink/juice/tea and coffee) will be provided.
