Event Information

Every great music city needs a great music festival: Under Western Skies is Dubbo's new music event celebrating the art of the Central West.  After a sold-out 2019 event, we're back for 2020.

The idyllic surroundings of Dundullimal Homestead - National Trust NSW will once again set the scene for an afternoon and evening of music, craft beer, kids activities, food, art, stalls and skies!

This year’s musical lineup, headlined by Little Quirks, Andy Nelson and Red Bee offers something for everyone! Little Quirks have supported the likes of Tim Rogers, Alex the Astronaut, Busby Marou, and Xavier Rudd and their hugely catchy single ‘Crumbled’ has clocked up nearly 3 million streams on Spotify. Andy Nelson has appeared at the National Folk Festival, The End Festival, Inland Sea of Sound and was a semi-finalist at the 2018 Bluesfest, and Red Bee have been described as ‘the next big thing’ in Australian rock.

Rounding out the bill are local rockers One Proud Monkey - playing their final show ever, The Unclaimed Millions, Civil Hands, Shane Riley, and Irene Halloran.

No festival is complete without an assortment of local fare and Under Western Skies is no exception. Craft beer legends Badlands Brewery will be delivering bespoke beverages, whilst gourmet food will be dished out by Alfie's Gourmet Pizzas and Catering and Grilla Pit BBQ. Festival-goers’ cravings will be met by Saddle Up To A Coffee - Coffee Float, Sandy D’z Minnie Bar, Cone Crazy Shaved Ice & Milk Bar, Dubbo’s Own Lolly Lady and the Dundullimal crew will be serving up cafe options.

A dedicated kids area will keep the young folks entertained, with an undercover sand-pit being shipped in, jumping castle, face painting, colouring in, and an assortment of activities on offer.

Free tours of Dundullimal - the oldest sophisticated slab house in Australia - will be available throughout the afternoon courtesy of National Trust NSW volunteers.

All of this will be accompanied by market stalls, visual arts, projections and short films in the Old Church.

An incredible evening under our enormous and beautiful western skies.

You can't stream it, download it, or save it for later. But you can be there.

Under Western Skies is brought to you by the Songwriters & Original Musicians Association of Dubbo Inc (SOMAD), a grassroots not-for-profit incorporated association founded by Dubbo musos.

The festival is sponsored by Macquarie Credit Union, Dubbo Regional Council and Monster Signs. It is supported by National Trust NSW, Assurance Training & Sales, Headspace, Ashcrofts IGA Dubbo, Dubbo Rubbish Removals and Wormald.
