Event Information

Astrophotography Hour Tour

Note this starts at Midnight in December and January. So you dont get confused with the dates, the date of the event refers to the day on the hours before midnight. For example if the tour is on the 1st of December, it starts after the tours before hand on the 1st of December and finishes at 1am on the 2nd of December.

If there are no bookings for the astroexclusive tour at 10:30pm, the Astrophotography Tour can be brought forward to 10:30pm if you wish.

Your tour guide Peter Starr has a Masters Degree in astronomy and was a Manager at the famous Siding Spring Observatory, Australias largest optical telescope facility.

This tour is for people who have their own canon or nikon dslr camera and wish to take photographs through our telescopes of nebulae, galaxies, and star clusters.

The tour goes for 1 hour and we take the photos for you or you can do them yourself under supervision.

The price is per camera.

This tour does not involve any viewing through telescopes.

Make sure your battery is charged and good to have a backup.

You will need a remote shutter release for your camera. We have some that fit some models but not all.

Gates open to the carpark 15 minutes before the scheduled start time.

It is an outdoors activity. Dress warmly in the Autumn through to Spring months. During Summer bring some mosquito propellant just in case. Please refrain from using any devices that give off a white light like torches, mobile phones, or flash photography as it interferes the viewing of the night sky. red lights are fine. You can do flash photography at the ned if you like.

Please park your car so the headlights do not shine at the observatory or viewing area
