Event Information

East Coast Heritage Rail is proud to support the 2021 Wings Over Illawarra Airshow!  Travel in style, avoid the traffic and make your day even more enjoyable and memorable - let us do the driving!

Enjoy the best of both worlds - combine heritage aviation with heritage rail by travelling with East Coast Heritage Rail to the show on one of the 2021 Airshow Flyer services. With an incredible flying program in development*, Wings Over Illawarra 2021 is once again set to impress!  With limited parking available at the venue, taking the train is the best way to avoid the stress of driving.

The Airshow Flyer trains will feature our beautifully restored and maintained carriages hauled by heritage diesel locomotives, with return trips operating on both days of the airshow.  Arrivals are timed** at around 10am so you can join the magnificent air displays from 11am, and a 5pm departure time lets you take in the whole day of displays and travel home easily.

You can also visit the Illawarra Light Railway Museum and see their heritage steam and diesel light rail trains. LIght rail train tavel from their museum to the airshow venue is available ($5 return, payable to the ILRM).

Seats can be purchased for either a Saturday return or Sunday return train (or both!), boarding at Central, Hurstville, Sutherland or Thirroul for a direct train to Albion Park Station. The airshow entrance is just a short walk (100 metres) from the station via a dedicated access way.

A light buffet service will be available on the train.

PLEASE NOTE: This ticket is for the SUNDAY 14th NOVEMBER train only.

Please see the Saturday train event to purchase tickets for the SATURDAY 14th NOVEMBER train.

Our trains usually depart from Platform 1 at Sydney Central Station and picks up as shown on our timetable. Please check departure indicators at your joining station in case of platform changes.

If you are using a Sydney Trains or NSW TrainLink service to connect with our train by visiting or by calling 131 500 to plan your connecting journey to Central. Remember our tickets DO NOT entitle you to travel on Sydney Trains or NSW TrainLink services. Seating on the Airshow Express is allocated. As a courtesy to passengers joining the train at other stations, you are requested to occupy only the seats allocated to your booking unless otherwise advised by your passenger attendant.

Please ensure you arrive at your boarding station at least 10 minutes before our scheduled departure time. As we share the railway with many other trains, we CANNOT and WILL NOT wait for late passengers.

You may enjoy a light buffet service (tea/coffee/snacks) but due to mobile reception on the route we cannot run card machines reliably, we reccomend you bring some cash.

Prior to booking tickets please contact East Coast Heritage Rail at  if there are passengers with disabilities in your group to discuss options.

Please be aware that the carriages on the Cockatoo Run are heritage cars and have narrow doors, aisles and walkways and are not equipped with wheel chair spaces. Because of space constraints it is impossible for Wheel chairs to be manoeuvred to seats from the entrance vestibule. It is necessary for passengers to be able to make their way to seats. Walking frames must be able to be folded as there is limited storage space and may not be stored in aisles or doorways.

Strollers and prams must be of the foldable type and fit in the luggage rack above passenger seats.

For more information visit us online or contact us.
