Event Information
SMOKESCREEN
Join us for the next film in our lineup of the 2027 Season of Smokescreen at the WPCC on Saturday, 1st May. This year’s theme is ‘The Game of Life’. The selected films utilise sport as a metaphor through which to examine society, as well as the values and complexities that shape it.
This week’s film, Invictus, uses rugby to explore post-apartheid South Africa. Released in 2009 and directed by Clint Eastwood, the film examines leadership, reconciliation and the role of collective identity in re-building a nation, reflecting on how sport can act as a symbol of hope.
