Event Information
SMOKESCREEN
Join us for the final films in our lineup of the 2027 Season of Smokescreen at the WPCC on Saturday, 6th November. This year’s theme is ‘The Game of Life’. The selected films utilise sport as a metaphor through which to examine society, as well as the values and complexities that shape it.
This week’s screening is a double feature of both Foxcatcher and Footy Legends. Beginning with the dramatic story of Olympic wrestling brothers Mark and Dave Schultz, Foxcatcher is a cautionary tale for control, social class control, and performative masculinity. Smokescreen 2027 then ends with Footy Legends, a 2006 comedic Australian story that uses rugby to explore community and connection.
Foxcatcher Run Time: 2 hr 14 mins
Foxcatcher Classification: M
Footy Legends Run Time: 1 hr 30 mins
Footy Legends Classification: PG
