Restricted Access Tickets
Restricted Access allows you to control when specific ticket types become available for purchase. This is useful for creating ticket rules, such as requiring an Adult ticket before a Child ticket can be purchased, or automatically adding companion tickets to a booking.
Step 1: Access Event Management
Log in to your 123 Tix account.
Navigate to "Manage Events" and then "Current Events".
Find the event you wish to restrict ticket types and select “Tickets” in the “Event Options” column.
Step 2: Adding Restricted Access
- Locate the ticket type you want to restrict.
- Click the "Blue Edit Pencil" to open the ticket settings.
- Tick "Restricted ticket" (under "Advanced options").
- Under "Paired ticket(s)", tick each ticket type that should unlock or trigger this ticket.
- For each ticked ticket, set how many of this ticket apply per paired ticket (for example, 1 × per paired ticket so one Adult unlocks one Child, or 4 so one Family ticket unlocks up to four Child tickets), and choose its behaviour:
- Unlock only – this ticket can be bought once the paired ticket is in the cart, but is not added automatically.
- Auto-add (paid) – this ticket is added automatically when the paired ticket is selected, and charged at its price.
- Auto-add (free) – this ticket is added automatically at no cost when the paired ticket is selected.
- For Unlock only pairings you can also tick:
- "Fixed quantity restriction" – enforces the number per paired ticket. Without it, customers can choose any quantity once the ticket is unlocked.
- "Restricted by all types" – the customer must have all the ticked paired tickets in their cart, rather than any one of them.
- Click "Save" to apply the restriction to the ticket type, repeat these steps for any additional restricted tickets.
- Test your setup by previewing your event to ensure the restrictions work as intended.
Tips:
Before setting up restricted access, decide which ticket types should be linked. For example, if you want a child ticket to be available only with an adult ticket, make sure both ticket types are created first.
If the ticket should unlock when any one of several tickets is bought, tick those tickets and leave "Restricted by all types" unticked.
If the ticket should only unlock when every ticked ticket is in the cart (e.g. an add-on needing both a VIP and a Parking ticket), tick "Restricted by all types".
Preview your event and try selecting different tickets to ensure the restricted access is working correctly before making your event live.
If your event structure changes or you introduce new ticket options, revisit your restricted access settings to ensure they still apply correctly.
